There are of course some great benefits but it is also a lot more work. However, the latest news that YouTube Music will prioritising podcasting in its 2023 plans has definitely placed me on #<\/span><b><i>teamvideopodcast.<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> But let&#8217;s run through some pros and cons of video podcasting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube has over 2 billion active users. That is about one third of the world&#8217;s population. To put that in perspective Spotify is the world\u2019s largest streaming site and has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.demandsage.com\/spotify-stats\/#:~:text=Its%20premium%20subscribers%20have%20access,premium%20subscribers%20across%20180%20regions.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">498 million active users.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> And now that YouTube will be optimised for podcasting there is no reason not to be on there. I believe that video will play a bit part in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/the-future-of-podcasting-and-radio-with-ciaran-duffy\/\">the future of podcasting<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube and podcasting\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is not yet clear exactly what YouTube is planning but we do know one thing: podcasts are a big part of their 2023 priorities. Here\u2019s what we know so far:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube recently revealed that background play and other capabilities are coming to YouTube Music for podcasts<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube launched a new podcast page for users in the United States last year\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube is currently developing RSS feed integration so podcasters won&#8217;t need to manually upload episodes to the site<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cons of video podcasting\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-529\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2-300x157.png\" alt=\"pros and cons of video podcasting\" width=\"785\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2-1024x536.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You might be looking at this and wondering why I didn&#8217;t always think video podcasting was the way to go. So let\u2019s jump right into the cons past and present.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube did not have RSS feed integration (past con)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you release a podcast episode you will upload and schedule it on a host site like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/anchor.fm\/dashboard\/analytics\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anchor<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/castos.com\/?via=maria\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Castos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. These sites will distribute your podcast to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and all the rest. However, usually they will not automatically distribute it to YouTube. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/castos.com\/?via=maria\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Castos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has a plan that includes YouTube distribution as an extra but this is not standard.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, this will be changing soon with YouTubes RSS feed integration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Video podcasting will demand more of your internet connection (present con)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do a short test of your internet connection before the interview and be prepared to deal with any potential technical difficulties, such as echo, the &#8220;robot voice,&#8221; and time delays. Give your guest advance notice to let you know if something sounds off so you can stop and start again. The same goes for you; if you detect a delay, echo, or anything else, pause, then begin the phrase or topic again to make sure you can edit it out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More work editing (present con)\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Editing video is a different game to editing audio. In audio editing you can edit out \u2018ums\u2019, \u2018ahs\u2019, pauses and mistakes pretty flawlessly. But in video editing the viewers can see every time there has been an edit. It is best not to edit video in that way unless there is a really big mistake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With video I recommend just topping and tailing the podcast (cutting to the start point and cutting at the end) and adding in your intro and outro.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you still want to edit out your \u2018ums\u2019 and \u2018ahs\u2019 you might want to do two edits, one to the audio and one to the video. Although this would obviously take more time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One thing that will help with this is recording in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/riverside.fm\/?utm_campaign=campaign_2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;utm_source=rewardful&amp;via=maria-hogan\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Riverside<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where you can actually edit right on the website after recording.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pros of video podcasting\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/3-300x157.png\" alt=\"pros and cons of video podcasting\" width=\"785\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/3-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/3-1024x536.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/3-768x402.png 768w, https:\/\/www.creativelycontenting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/3.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that we got all the negativity out of the way, let\u2019s look at the pros.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube is prioritising podcasting in 2023\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we said above YouTube has over 2 billion active users and now that they are optimising their services for podcasting it really is the place to be as a podcaster.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have more content to play with\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can repurpose video content into many pieces of content for Youtube, TikTok, Linkedin, Instagram, Facebook, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotify video podcasts\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotify started supporting video podcasts last year so you can upload your video to Spotify as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop trust and authority\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People like faces. It is as simple as that. Podcast recording sites like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/riverside.fm\/?utm_campaign=campaign_2&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;utm_source=rewardful&amp;via=maria-hogan\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Riverside<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> already offer a video recording option.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you did want to ensure the best quality the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3F112WR\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sony Alpha A6600<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is widely regarded as one of the leading cameras for video podcasting.
